Behind The Badge Charities

The Spectrum Empath

imageAutism theory behind being an empath I see is actually quite an illusion. There is actually a medical term for our condition. It is a form of Autism known as Asperger Syndrome.

Empathy is really like the mythological counterpart to Asperger Syndrome (AS). Whereas AS is a medical term, Empathy is a mythological term. People with Asperger Syndrome (Aspies) have very deep-thinking brains and are very sensitive to their environment. Basically, regular brains can think lightly about lots of different topics at once, Autistics only think deeply of one thing at a time. Whereas a regular brain skims lightly across a multitude of subjects, Autists think so deeply, we are often said to be living in our own world or on cloud nine or need to come back to earth. As a result, we learn a lot more about things than regular brains, and often have an above-average intelligence. But because we focus so deeply on our topics of interest (called Obsessions) then other facets of life which involve more dynamic thinking are difficult to us, such as functioning in groups, holding a regualr job and social life comfortably, or even washing every day. We are so focused on our obsessions that these “every day” activities are put aside in second place.

Now, due to our deep minded brains are please recognize we notice so many things that a normal brain does not. We hone in on facial expressions, body language, words, objects, everything. We get a lot more information from any situation than an ordinary person needs. As a result, if there are too many people present, or situations start to proceed when we are not expecting it, we experience a sensory overload, which often turns to anxiety, confusion, fear and anger, or alternatively, extreme excitement. We are very easily affected by our surroundings, because we see so much in the simplest of things, whereas other would only see a simple and uninteresting thing.

Both types of brains are useful for different tasks, together we can work as a team, but in order to do that, both types need to be officially recognised for their strengths and weaknesses.

The trouble is, that this level of sensitivity isn’t always good for us socially, because where other people don’t see it, and if we are not understood for having the gifts we have, it can cause pretty bad social situations for us, we can become very twisted, hurt and mistrustful of people, and we can even be outcast from society completely if we put too many feet wrong. It’s not ours or other peoples fault, we both just have very differently-thinking kinds of brains. Both are necessary to a complete society and are perfectly natural states of mind. People who promote that these differences are a good thing, promote what is known as Neuro-diversity, overly similar like cultural-diversity.

The data is documented medically as a form of Autism. In official descriptions, it can sound boring and vague, once you start talking to others with the condition, reading about the subject and peoples experiences, you will soon realize like I have that Empathy and Asperger’s is one and the same.

The challenge we often encounter socially is when we express out theories of how we think other people think and feel, to normal people who have quick thinking dynamic brains as opposed to our slower deep-thinking brains. While we are often correct, other peoples brains simply do not go deep enough to be able to compute this information. They will often have a bad reaction if we are too forthright with them. In good cases we will be locally respected as a wise, considerate person who is able to solve problems. Observing the grander version from a place of mindfulness and allowing for the process to unfold and events to take place on all level, and dimensions

Autism Genius…???

Some people with autism have amazed experts with their outstanding memories, mathematical skills or musical talent. Now scientists have found that the genes thought to cause autism may also confer mathematical, musical and other skills on people without the condition.
The finding has emerged from a study of autism among 378 Cambridge University students, which found the condition was up to seven times more common among mathematicians than students in other disciplines. It was also five times more common in the siblings of mathematicians.
While this finding doesn’t really qualify as “new” in the usual sense of the word, it is a nice confirmation that autism really does have its “up” sides. In fact, according to some, Asperger syndrome may actually account for the extraordinary contributions of such geniuses as Einstein, Mozart, and Galileo!
So far, no one has actually identified the “genius” gene. Yet- if there really is one – what a find it will be! Not only will it help to improve society’s perception of autism, but it may also support better educational approaches, higher expectations, and improved self-esteem among people with autism. It may also be one more reason to question the idea that most autism is caused by environmental injury rather than heredity. As such in my case, is the case!!!

In fact, as research into the causes and significance of autism continues, it seems clearer and clearer to me that there are at least several completely different disorders now bunched together under the same “spectrum” umbrella. Inherited traits, such as mathematical genius social awkwardness, and extraordinary ability seem to describe only one form of “autism.” Other forms seem to include a completely separate set of symptoms, ranging from loss of communication skills to physical illness, sensitivities to certain foods, and more.

we’re living in interesting times….

Autism is more than a challenge:

It is the invitation to a world of friends, opportunities, insights and discoveries. Learn more about the autism community, autistic strengths, and programs, supports, and inspiration to inspire positive living with autism. In my life the adversities I have faced have helped me become stronger. My attention to learn to focus on developing the value and character strength I knew was on a higher level came through observing those who put me down. I leaned towards my own way and trusted the uniqueness that made me who I am. Forgiving, and deleting those who called me names, made fun of me, and accused me of just wanting attention when I was seeking real and valid help while they turned their face, acting as though they didn’t see or know me, or the life threatening challenges delt my way. I was taught that I didn’t have a choice in life and that inhibited my voice. Things I was good at were dismissed as opposed to cultivated and that was harmful to me on many levels of exists thence and confidence. We all have a mission. I chose not to give up, finding a way and within that will forged into healing and surrounding myself with the acceptance of those who were not shadowed by the ignorance of judgment and rejection. This year I turn 40 and through the choice to live in my truth and begin to speak about everything that made who I am and the purpose behind what that is begins. It is enveloped by my friends, the ones who have stood by me in my truth as I developed and healed myself looking at the adversity and overcoming obstacles I came through that were unnecessarily paved by others. Through of all the difficult spots and in applying a steadfast discipline to commit to healing my life, has changed my life and the reality that surrounds me. I am much stronger and wiser because of these moments as horrific as they had been. And they were. One would never even know the story I am soon to share with all of you to help prevent harm to another autistic much less any living being.
The common decency to provide the acknowledgement to care is powerful beyond belief

All in all being wise is having the knowledge to make decisions and solve complex real-world problems has become easier. And within that I strive to helps us to get along with others and realize what’s truly important. Cultivating harmony and integrity with a common support system for each other dispute our challenges and differences with an open mind and acknowledgement to everyone’s life lesson

I see that helping humanity understand the idea of wisdom is crucial for healthy development at the individual level and for the collective community. Whether wisdom, personal-growth, and greater self-awareness come from difficult life experiences or formal education, helping people start looking for the value in difficult situations can offer a fundamental source of strength and power.

Today I am living my life again. I’m doing what I love to do and supported by people who embrace me and the purpose intended. This post is dedicated to those of you who supported me to compete again. Uplifting me in this energy to move passed those who put me down before. Never let anyone hold you from your path. Remember you can be anything you want to be and do what you want to do.

Star Beings

imageStar Children are highly evolved “aliens” who have “landed” in the midst of contemporary Earth Culture.
Everyone upon the Earth at this time is involved in a historic and special evolutionary unfoldment. Primarily since around the early 1970’s, yet not limited or restricted to this time of reference.

Please allow me to speak about the essence of what Star Children are like, ADHD Issues, Dyslexia, and Depression, as an Intro to some new ideas on what this life will be like.

Star Beings are anything but normal, and they will readily declare that order is not their highest priority in life. Anyone who takes a look at a Star Beings living quarters will verify that. Mostly, they seek the invocation of passion, though the term itself may not have meaning to them. To the adult mind, passion is equal to lust or an intense charge of emotion. To the younger mind, however, the ruling force in life becomes whatever unique blend of mind and emotion that can be compacted and distilled into a tall cup of liquid NOW.

They come in peace.

They are here to build bridges of learning and understanding between our present world and a whole new world that is trying to make contact with us.

Bridges of learning and understanding must go both ways. Unconditionally

Star Children learn best by example. The easiest way to teach them is to actively learn in their presence. As they see you do it, they immediately begin doing it too.

There are no experts where humanity is heading now. Everything is becoming new. The biggest gift that our children bring us is a continual reminder of what it looks like to be open and expectant about life and learning.

High test scores do not necessarily exude that of an intelligent person

One of the most important elements for learning and growth is having enough time to discover what you want and need to learn on your own. In your own time without force.

Star Children are not the possessions of their parents or the society in which they live. They are explorers and guides for a whole new way of being.

We know that we have contacted our Magical Child when our bodies and minds get “turned on” by what we are doing in the present moment.
The foundational power behind sexuality is present and active in people of all ages. It is a creative mindset, an expanded state of being. Its primary components are a healthy curiosity, freedom to explore, and willingness to progressively share self with others.

People are coming together in a collective and joint support systematic way of empowering each other. This induces a shift in the ecology of the body and Endocrine System……which is the body’s natural chemistry….the body’s natural healing source. If we mix up and confuse the “chemistry” of our lives…staying where we don’t want to be, doing what we don’t want to do…..then it will naturally follow …our BODY CHEMISTRY will be misaligned as well. Therefore, it would make sense that the petitioned life for the
STAR CHILDREN to live in an aligned embodiment is in that of a nurturing and a guided life, loving habitant and if there is absence of this, they will lack the self-esteem that would activate the bundle of potential they hold into something tangible and useful in today’s world.
It is those who conform to society and move on into “respectability,” that are essentially feral creatures who simply submit to external restraint. This requires construction of internal walls of protection, in order to protect the inner sanctum of the Star Child Consciousness – the place where motivations are stored and nurtured. Those who find that they simply cannot “sell out” in order to get by, become what psychologists call “behaviorally disordered.” This brings me to
Mention the whole idea of a disease process that is called a “disorder” was invented by human who make their living from defining and changing the attitudes and actions of others. Many of the basic premises and techniques for change used by these therapists and doctors are built from an extremely (heavily logical) paradigm that holds a core belief that order equates with happiness.

Many astute observers, including teachers, parents, child development specialists, and pediatricians have noticed that over the last few decades a dramatic change has been happening in the children and young adults they deal with. These newer children and young adults are brighter but in often non-traditional ways. They grow up faster both physically and mentally. They tackle problems and school subjects in often unconventional ways that work but often leave the on-looker baffled. They are more naturally spiritual but less interested in church-going religion. They abhor violence and tend towards compassion for suffering and misfortune. They often have a fascination with space and life elsewhere, and many feel a connection to other worlds and their peoples as “home” and “family”.
These are the Star Kids, and the Star Seed adults.
A Star Kid may be defined as a child with both human and Star Visitor origins.
The Star Visitor contribution to the child’s makeup may come from:
1) Star Visitor genes spliced into the human parent’s reproductive material, (genetic engineering);
2) from a deliberately-chosen “missionary” incarnation of an Star Visitor into a human body to accomplish important work here, bringing useful awareness and competencies; or,
3) from a “Walk-In” situation in which a human somewhere during childhood or later on begins to die from an accident or serious illness, but the departing human spirit/soul/personality is simultaneously replaced by a Star Visitor spirit/soul/personality, which carries on providing the life-force and completes the lifetime, and imbues that human with advanced abilities.

These descriptions also apply to those who are Star Seed adults.
Some Star Kids do not yet remember any Star Visitor contact until a later time in their life.
These children are special, as their sometimes bewildered and bemused parents know all too well. They often seem to be little adults in children’s bodies. And they often have a gaze and a knowingness that belies their years.
Many years of continuing Star Visitor biological engineering in an ongoing effort to upgrade the Human race have resulted in children whose heads are now often so big that a Caesarian section, or at least an episiotomy, is the only way they can be born. But even though increased cranial size is a rough index of intelligence, even more important is the qualitative increase in Human development. Such areas include: enhanced psychic abilities, the ability to harness bioenergetic (chi, prana) energy and earth and cosmic forces to heal, and telepathic and intuitive linking with others and with Source Consciousness.
One of the most common, if mundane, characteristics of these Star Kids is that often they will cause a street lamp (especially the amber sodium vapor type) to go out when they walk by. This is due to the influence of their body’s bioelectromagnetic field, which has been “amped-up” as a result of contact with the Star Visitors.
These children display skills, such as: telepathy (mental communication), precognition (knowing the future), telekinesis (moving objects by mental concentration), clairvoyance/remote viewing (mentally seeing things distant in space or time), “downloading” information (from off-planet consciousnesses), cross-species communication, penetrating intuitiveness (just “knowing” something without being told), affecting electrical devices (e.g., devices turn on or blow out as the kid goes by), remote-influencing others (telepathically), inter-dimensional viewing, aura-reading (learning about another’s health, intentions, etc. by observing the energy field surrounding them), psychic diagnosis (“reading” the person’s energy field fluctuations), psychic or bioenergetic healing (transferring helpful energy to a person), invisibility work (making self “invisible” (mentally), teleportation (moving self or object from one locale to another by mental effort), levitation (rising from the ground by mental effort), mental influencing (telepathically causing another to “feel” like doing something the Star Kid wants) , earth energy adjustment work, time dilation or contraction (causing events, trips, etc. to take longer or shorter time than ordinary), pre-sensitivity to earthquakes or human disasters like car crashes, interdimensional awareness, astral (out-of-body) travel, channeling (serving as a conduit for a person not present to speak through), shared consciousness (with a Star Visitor guide), operating in close mental connection with their Star Visitor guides, and physically summoning and connecting with one’s Star-Visitor and other guardians.

These children embody physical changes that even they often recognize, such as: robust immunity development (most Star Kids have hardly any flus or bad colds), or, some Star Kids go the alternate path. These alternate-path Star Kids are highly sensitive to environmental contaminants, the sensitivity expressed as allergies, and have low digestive tolerance for certain foods, and develop disorders (labeled as “Asperger’s”, ot “Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity”) which suggest a partial incompatibility between their neurological wiring and the nervous system of regular Humans. And these Star Kids also often have lower basal temperature .Another notable aspect is for their knowing gaze, mature outlook, and appealing dynamic appearance (Star Kids), which most often turns out later in life as looking younger than one’s years (as adult Star Seeds).
These Star Kids are not just psi-savants, and recognize the importance of spiritual connection to Source in reverent consciousness. They also share spiritual insights, explore the connections between the physical (e.g., quartz crystal), the metaphysical (e.g., thought energy), and the spiritual (e.g., creating and transmitting the intention to do good deeds to those in need). Star People reverence spiritual prayer, and respect the underlying spiritual truth in ceremonies from various cultures.
They most often are imbued with a missionary zeal to make people wake up to their highest and best potential. These Star Kids also want to change the world for the better, be it by working for peace, by spreading compassion and kind deeds, by working to heal the Earth’s pollution injuries, or telling people about a larger family we have out among the stars. And what that might be for them.
These are some of the ways in which a Star Kid may be recognized.

In efforts to alleviate confusion as to whether the Star Kids are the same as what have been called “Indigo Children” or “Crystal Children”.
As described by the people who produced the “Indigo Children” label, Lee Carroll and Jan Tober, Indigoes are basically children who have attentional, hyperactive or behavioral problems but are quite smart, have strong leadership drive, and are impatient with and have difficulty conforming to dysfunctional social structures, which causes frustration. Indigo children are supposed to have an indigo-colored aura.
“Crystal Children” is another label attempting to describe the new generation of psychic and sensitive children now being born, describing them as intuitive, telepathic, and possessing opalescent multi-hued auras.
“Indigo” and “Crystal” labels are attempts to describe the markedly different children growing up now among us. However, neither label speaks to their partial star heritage. Such an omission is not trivial. The Star Visitors are a key factor in our past and origin, and their coming return en masse will be an historic element of our near future and evolutionary progressions. The Star Kids are coming in now because the Star Visitors have taken compassion on our situation, and are helping arrange that the young ones being born now include the brightest and best.

Energy is the essence of life…
As our star children raise their vibrational frequencies, they will experience a shift into a multi-dimensional awareness, energy, or a shift in consciousness. In fact, this can happen in people who have been on a spiritual path and are able to handle this type of energy shift.

Celia Fenn has written about symptoms that may occur during a vibrational shift, which may include:

1. Sudden extreme sensitivity to people and environments. A person who has previously been sociable and active suddenly finds they can’t bear to be in shopping malls or in crowded environments such as restaurants.

2. An increase in psychic ability and awareness. This most often manifests in the ability to almost hear the inner thoughts and feelings of others. This can be disconcerting if the person imagines that everyone else can also read his or her thoughts and feelings. Also, an extreme sensitivity to negative energy in certain environments or people, including the inability to tolerate someone who had previously been close.

3. This increased sensitivity can lead to panic attacks or anxiety attacks. These can occur at any time, even when the person wakes up at night. Often there is no valid reason for the attack, although the person will often seek to find a reason.

4. People might also find themselves zoning out for long periods of time, just wanting to sit and do nothing. This can be irritating to someone who has previously been very energetic and active. This is just the consciousness adjusting to spending more time in the higher dimensions and less time in the 3rd and 4th dimensions. Related to this is the need to rest and sleep for far longer than usual and a general slowing down.

5. Obsessive anxieties about humans being destroyed (by pollution, lack of resources, aliens, technology, etc). This is because multi-dimensional consciousness can access all levels of the group mind, including that part which holds the fears and anxieties about the survival of the species. Since the person is often concerned about their own survival, they tend to resonate with this part of the group mind or morphogenetic field.

6. An obsessive need to understand what is happening, leading to the mind becoming overactive and the person fearing they are losing it or suffering from burn-out. Also, a fear of going mad and being unable to cope with everyday life in the future. Psychologists and doctors seem able to offer very little help.

7. Depression for no reason, or related to the crisis state. This is often just the consciousness clearing out old layers of energy that need to be released. It is not necessary to process or relive the experience, just allow the body to release the energy. Have patience with the process and know that it will pass.

8. Disrupted sleep patterns, often waking up to 3 times a night, or just at about 3 a.m. Again, this is just the consciousness adapting to new cycles of activity. Higher consciousness is often more active at night since the lower dimensions are quiet at this time.

9. Feeling strange electrical energy waves through the body. The Crystal body is incredibly sensitive and feels solar and lunar waves, cosmic waves, and energies from the galactic center. Often these energies are assisting in the process of rewiring the body to carry higher energies. Speaking from experience, I know how uncomfortable this can be. But the body eventually acclimates to dealing with these energy waves. You will probably find them to be more intense around a full moon. The best way I have found of dealing with this phenomenon is to go outside and stand barefoot on the ground and imagine the energy running through your body and into the earth.

10. A whole range of physical sensations and experiences usually related to detoxification. The Crystal body holds no toxins, but allows everything to pass through it. In fact the eventual trick to being Crystal is just to allow everything to pass through and hold on to nothing. This is the ultimate state of detachment. At this stage the body needs to release years of toxic waste, whether physical, emotional, or mental. The release is always through the physical body, which presents symptoms such as intense fatigue, muscle and joint pains, especially in the hips and knees; headaches, especially at the base of the skull; and neck and shoulder pains.

11. Dizziness and spaciness. This is because you are in higher states of consciousness. You need to get used to being at these levels and staying grounded at the same time. These sensations tend to increase with solar flares and full moons as well.

12. Increased appetite and putting on weight. This is because the body needs huge amounts of energy to power this process.

13. The ability to see beyond the veils. That is, to become aware of spirits, devas, Ets, and angels as a reality and to communicate with these. This can be very frightening if the person is not accustomed to this kind of other dimensional awareness.

The purpose of the Indigo to Crystal to Rainbow transition is ascension. We are all ascending to a higher dimension of consciousness and a higher vibrational frequency. This spiritual evolution is often referred to as ascension, or consciously elevating the vibratory rate of our physical and other energetic bodies to the Christ level.

Ascension is about realizing our God and Goddess selves and creating Heaven on earth. It is about embracing who we really are and dispelling the thought that we are separate from our Creator or the Divine. Ascension is also about bringing the higher and lower aspects of our being into complete harmony and alignment with our higher self or higher purpose in life. Every thing in life that isn’t in alignment with our higher purpose will just fall away with this process. There can be a difficult period of adjustment during the process of ascension and some of the adjustments can be hard to view as positive circumstances. This may mean ending relationships, moving, changing jobs, and further changes that may seem unsettling. However, it is necessary for these old patterns to fall away to make room for the new higher energy.

The ultimate goal in spiritual ascension is to align with a higher source and keep vibrational frequencies at a higher level to help you live out your life’s purpose and find the special gifts and talents that you have to offer.
Autistics are advocates in many forms to assist in this process and for love and peace on this planet.

They are mostly born into the Gold Ray of Incarnation and Evolution, which means they have access to gifts of clairvoyance and healing. They are born on the sixth dimension of consciousness, with the potential to open up rapidly to the ninth dimensional level of full Christ consciousness, and then from there to the thirteenth dimension, which represents universal consciousness.

Crystal children’s auras aren’t specifically opalescent, but are octarine, which is a color that isn’t in the normal visual range of human eyes, but is the manifest color of high magic, and on another color octave entirely. They have beautiful pastel hues to them. To the untrained eye, it appears to be without color at all, therefore Crystal, but the extremely high frequency of the energy field is what gives it away.

The first thing you will recognize about Crystal beings is their forgiving nature. They are very sensitive, warm, and caring. Don’t mistake these characteristics as a sign of weakness as Crystal being are also very powerful.

The Crystal being is incredibly sensitivity, which stems from the ability to feel universal consciousness. You won’t be able to hide anything from these being. You won’t be able to lie to them either, as they will know immediately what the truth is. It is important to mention that Crystal being know what is in your thoughts and even more importantly, what is in your heart. This is another reason why they are so sensitive.

Beings with a crystal vibration have the ability to reflect things back to the universe that are of no importance to them. Not only will they reflect this energy back, they will reflect it in such a way that it is stronger than when it was taken in.

Special Note

If you are the parent of a Crystal being, it is crucial that your child take in good energy at all times or as much as possible. Your role is to help these children reflect harmony, peace, and oneness into the Universe. This, in turn, will help all of us raise our vibrational frequencies and help spread peace around the world.

Just as Indigo beings don’t react to guilt, you will find Crystal beings do not react to fear. Fear is prevalent in almost everyone. The collective consciousness of our earth and universe magnifies this emotion. With terrorism on the rise, it is important now more than ever to let go of this age-old emotion. There is nothing to fear in this life, as all is unfolding as it should. Not even death should be feared, as there is no such thing.

Most importantly, do not fear star beings . These gifted youngsters will feel fear and magnify it back. If you have a lower vibrational energy, you may react strongly to these beings with such a high vibrational frequency. Remember that the energy in the universe is changing for the better. As our vibrational frequencies are raised, a collective consciousness of peace and love are emanating into the universe.

Crystal scouts that arrived decades ago came to test the waters for future Star beings. These scouts had much grief. They were different and possibly psychic. It has taken our society a long time to start recognizing these types of people and accepting them. We are all becoming crystalline bodies whether we realize it or not. The continued energy shift that is happening is supporting this energy pattern and moving us all in that direction.

This change in energy or energy shift is definitely wreaking havoc in the world. The many natural disasters that are occurring will continue to occur in the years to come as a result of the energy shift. This is part of the shift. It is important to remember during this time that we all must be good and kind souls. Always help others in need, be honest and kind, and remember your good karma piggy bank.

In time, Crystal beings will help us achieve our goals and understand the concept of oneness. Fear and greed are becoming emotions of the past and will be replaced by peace, harmony, and this sense of oneness.

Doreen Virtue, noted author and expert on Star Children, has written about the characteristics of Crystal children. She says these characteristics may include:

• Have large, communicative eyes and an intense stare.

• Are highly affectionate.

• Begin speaking later in life, but often uses telepathy or self-invented words or sign language to communicate.

• Love music and may even sing before talking.

• Are extremely connected to animals and nature.

• Are often very interested in rocks, crystals, and stones.

• Are extremely artistic.

• Are highly empathic and sensitive.

• Are forgiving and generous to others.

• Draw people and animals near them and love attention.

• Often have good sense of balance and are fearless when exploring high places.

• Often see or hear angels and spirit guides – both their own and others’.

• Dislike high-stress environments with many distractions.

• Dislike loud/sharp sounds.

• Dislike bright, unnatural lights.

• Often enjoy choosing their own meals and/or when they eat them.

• Often speak about universal love and healing.

• Sometimes show healing gifts at young ages.

• Don’t react well to sugar, caffeine, or unnatural foods/chemicals.

• Dislike fighting or refuse to keep an argument going very long.

• Often show strength in telekinesis (or Psycho kinesis).

• Often amplify emotional energies they gain from their environment (such as negative energies).

• Can become uncomfortable when around electrical devices too long (watching TV, computer, etc.), sometimes resulting in a trance-like state.

• Sometimes seem ‘clingy’ to their parents until 4 or 5.

• Often stare at people for long periods of time (this allows them to read a person and find out more about them through their own personal memories and energy).

• Can sometimes be manipulative and throw tantrums if they cannot create a reality that is good for them.

• Are easily over-stimulated and need to meditate/be alone often to replenish themselves.

• Don’t usually have trouble with fear or worry.

• Enjoy discussing spiritual or philosophical topics.

• May appear to be looking at nothing or talking to no one (sign of clairvoyance and/or clairaudience).

Indigos and Crystals work together to tear down archaic systems and build up new ones. Again, parents of these special children need to realize that they agreed to bring these wise and powerful children into the world whose mission reaches out to the globe as a whole and not just individuals or individual families. They are also here to work on the energy grids, raising vibrational frequencies to help facilitate global changes for a more peaceful earth.

It is important to support these gifted young children and to be cautious not to stress them or put them in busy environments. Like Indigos, Crystal children will also help raise the vibrational frequency of their parents. Crystals have a way of drawing other people with the correct energy to interact in a family’s life. Parents of a Crystal child will benefit greatly from these incredible children through their powerful, loving, and creative energies.

Star beings come with their higher level of consciousness, should be considered equals in families regardless of biological age. They should be involved in family issues and be allowed to give options and solutions to problems. Don’t forget that they are on a much higher vibrational frequency

Thus looking at the Vibrational frequency closer it is known to be the rate at which atoms and sub-particles of a being vibrate. The higher this vibrational frequency is, the closer it is to the frequency of light. Your words and thoughts send out a vibration that attracts an experience of a similar vibration. If you send out fear, you attract fear. If you send out love, you attract love.

Everything in the universe is energy and energy vibrates at different rates. You have a unique vibration, which is the product of all of the influences you have encountered. The influences you focus your attention on are those which determine your vibration. Negative vibrations are associated with the lower chakras. Negative vibrations Tips for Building Confidence for those with Asperger’s Syndrome hatred, anger, doubt, fear, jealousy, envy, judgment, impatience, disharmony, imbalance, and insecurity. Positive vibrations are love, harmony, peace, balance, kindness, understanding, and compassion. The negative emotions are not “bad.” We all, at one time or another, experience emotions of a lower vibration. These emotions only become harmful when you base your words or actions upon them. You can feel anger about something and still make a conscious choice to act out of love. When you do this, you are raising your vibration from one of anger to one of love. Changing your thoughts and actions will help raise your vibrational frequency.

Leading into another phenomenon associated with the Crystal being and that there are delayed speech patterns. The fact is not surprising that delayed speech is rising in children that are incredibly psychic. Why would they need to talk when they can communicate with their minds? It is not uncommon to see Crystal children that don’t really speak until they’re 3 or 4 years of age. Most parents are in touch with their children and know what they are communicating. These children may use sign language, sing, or make specific sounds to communicate.

Like Indigo children being diagnosed with ADD or ADHD, the medical profession will also label Crystal children. They will say that they have abnormal or delayed speech patterns. Parents should remember to look at the big picture. If children are successfully communicating at home and not having any problems, the medical profession should not try and make it a problem.

The new generation of children of the 21st century cannot be labeled and stuck into a box. Most people are on the old energy grid. It is difficult to try and keep up with the energy and higher vibrational frequencies of the new souls coming here to help us.

It is important that health care professionals update their diagnosis and become more aware of what is happening around them. It may be difficult to understand energy and realize that we are moving past medicine and things that will pull our vibrational frequencies to a lower level. People have been self healing with their own energies for quite some time. This trend will continue and even become more common in the decades to come.

The medical profession should also understand why autism is on the rise. It is higher vibrational frequency, are unable to handle vaccinations and other low frequency agents and compounds. These souls have loose ethereal bodies and the poison from the vaccines literally pushes them out of their bodies. You can protect them by keeping their meridians balanced and purging these toxins from their bodies by whatever alternative medicine you agree with. This may include getting their meridians balanced, chakras balanced, detox therapies, safe environments , energy work, Reiki, or whatever you are comfortable with. It is important to purge toxins from your body within 24-48 hours after giving medicine, especially after giving your children vaccinations. This time frame is when it is easiest to purge toxins and do the least amount of damage to the body. After 48 hours there may be some damage and it will be more difficult to eliminate the toxins.

Crystal beings are among the most connected, communicative, caring, and cuddly of any generation. They are also quite philosophical and spiritually gifted. They display an unprecedented level of kindness and sensitivity to this world. Crystal brings spontaneously hug and care for people in need and yet are aware of maintaining distance too

In the past, the vibrational frequency of the world has not been high enough to support these special souls. The energy shift that is occurring is changing the vibrational frequencies and these frequencies have finally become high enough to support these beings.

The beings of Crystal vibration are what you would consider to be the magical beings with abilities that you may have yet to understand. The attributes of Crystal beings are simply two-fold, they are extremely powerful and yet extremely vulnerable. They are highly evolved beings and have an understanding of what simple energy really is. Feats that you would think impossible may seem like child’s play to humans carrying the crystal vibration. You will begin to see magical abilities in human beings that you have never seen before. Their basic understanding of energy will make it possible to manipulate energy in new ways.

Many Crystal beings can levitate inanimate objects with their minds. They also have problems with electricity and will go through many watches, phones, and clocks next to the bed. This is because their vibrational energy is on a much higher frequency and it effects electrical objects.

Sensitive that they may feel threatened by the harshness of what people are holding in their hearts. Some will find safety in retreating and going within. There are some people who will think this is a sign of weakness and may even attempt to exploit these gentle beings. Let us set your mind at ease when we tell you that exploitation will not be possible. The beings crystal vibration are powerful beyond your understanding. Even though they may have great difficulty understanding and interacting, they will always know their true power and who they are.”

The grandest challenge is their inability to deal with other people’s fear. Fear is based on a belief in lack, and these beings will enter with a belief system that knows nothing of lack, and therefore nothing of fear. They will need help in dealing with the general fear around them, which means that we will need to start dealing with our own deeply ingrained habits of fear, separation, limitation, and lack.

These Crystals and scouts will know how to heal. They can also do this for other people. They know of others like them, because they can sense them within their own minds, but sometimes feel isolated physically. They are in touch with fairies, angels, and multidimensional cosmic beings. They have a hard time finding people they can trust and have learned that it is not always safe to share too much of their world with adults around them. They have great difficulty relating to the self-centered and limited perspectives that human society operates within. Most people find them very threatening in their vulnerability and directness. They feel frustrated because they know they are here to help, but feel that if they unleash their powers to assist the world, it could leave much chaos in its wake.

The difference between Indigos and Crystals lies in their vibrational energies and their auras—Crystals have an even higher frequency than Indigos and their auras contain unique colors never experienced before, or at least not that we have ever been aware of. These beings have strong emotional and spiritual needs and their high vibrations make it difficult for them to participate in the world as it exists. When things get too tough for them, they simply cannot cope and they retreat to the peace and safety of their own inner world.

One aspect of the Crystal energy is that Crystals require a great deal of physical attention, and protection which involves being held and touched in loving and nurturing ways. Crystals are so loving and gentle and they need a great deal of physical contact that is more than just touching and holding. There is a strong energy exchange with physical contact and from that they get the reassurance that they need to know that they are here at the right time, there is love for them, and they will be safe. This will help meet the Crystal needs so that they can be prepared for their journey when it is time for them to begin their work here to teach us the ways of love and peace.

The Star and Crystal beings are moving into our hearts and upgrading our energy systems. The Crystals are helping us to claim our power, expand consciousness and open our hearts, and to anchor ourselves firmly in the new energy grid. They are teaching us to accept our spiritual gifts as our birthright, and to see the creation of miracles as a normal activity. They are teaching us to honor our planet and ourselves and to see the beauty and the wonder and the joy of all creation.

Star beings teach the learning to live from the heart, to forgive and exercise tolerance and unconditional acceptance.

Building Confidence for those with Asperger’s Syndrome

1. Make a list of your accomplishments

Many people will tell you to make a list of your good qualities, of your strengths. This is a good exercise. But it doesn’t go far enough. Folks with Asperger’s syndrome need concrete examples. So make a list of all the things you have done in recent or past memory that were difficult for you — but that you survived without too much trauma. If you get nervous going into public buildings, every time you go into a store or a doctor’s office, keep a diary of it.

If you have trouble approaching new people, write down every time you do and who it was. Write how it went. If you mentally beat yourself up every time you make a mistake… make a resolution to give yourself a break, and come up with some positive affirmations to say instead. Write the situations down. Wait a few months. After some time goes by, you will be amazed at how much you were able to do — and how much the written diary makes you want to do more.

2. Figure out the why to the accomplishments

Be sure to think about why these ventures were successful. Did you have a friend along with you that gave you strength? Did you do anything to psych yourself up beforehand? Anything to relax afterwards? Did you have a strong motivation for doing the task, such as buying a desired item or some other gain?

Think about what made these difficult situations possible, and try to replicate what you did. Write it down, so you can remember later.

Parents – try to encourage your child to do these exercises. Use external motivation if necessary for the written diary (favored activity, something they want to buy, etc. for every so often). Eventually they will hopefully want to do it for themselves, without the rewards. You’re trying to recondition their brain.

3. Get feedback from others

Often, we need a boost from others in trying to figure out what our strengths are. Ask someone you trust what they think the things you do well are. Skip the parts you don’t do well unless absolutely necessary, you get enough of that already.

4. Surround yourself with people who validate you and accept you

This is important because you will start to internalize good messages about yourself and in time will be able to feel more confident about trying new things.

5. Try new things that are a stretch for you

Speaking of new things, try them. When you can. But only try new things that you think are within your ability zone. That is, think of something you find difficult but can do. Then, think of something that is just a little bit harder than that, that you think you might be able to do but aren’t sure.

On a day when you are feeling somewhat brave, give it a try. Plan something relaxing to do after, and visualize yourself doing it calmly beforehand. Reward yourself after. Keep doing this and you’ll eventually work up to the place you want to be.

Internal Versus External Locus of Control

This handy dandy psychological concept refers to a very important theory. If you believe you can handle what happens to you, whatever it may be, then your anxiety will be low and your ability to try new things high. If, however, you have an external locus of control — which many with Asperger’s syndrome have due to their high sensitivity levels — then you feel like you are just like a leaf in the wind, being controlled by whatever external forces happen to you. The latter leaves you with a feeling of helplessness and high anxiety. You become more resistant to trying new things because you don’t believe you have the right tools to deal with it should anything go wrong.

Additional Tips

Try to identify and practice self-soothing and coping skills. Find things that relax you — that you can do before and after a difficult activity.
Come up with contingency plans for various things that may go wrong.
Bring along friends or family for support.
Distract yourself.
The bottom line is, though, if you can find the strength to try these new things one time, two times, three times and more, successfully, and you can develop ways to cope with things that may go wrong — your locus of control will change, at least a little, and you will find yourself facing life with a lot more confidence and a lot less crippling anxiety.

Parents, guide your child through this process as best you can using the above guidelines. It is a wonderful thing to feel free. It is a wonderful feeling to be independent and self-sufficient. It just comes with a few bumps in the road along the way that you must gather the courage to face as best as possible.

With these tips, you can begin the process of building confidence and self-esteem. And for additional tips and suggestions to ensure your loved one lives a happy and fulfilling life, see The Asperger’s Syndrome Survival Guide

‘Leadership’ – It is truly a word that I recommend perhaps suggest – to us all to practice living it, becoming it within its most simplistic consideration at this stage which is to ensure that one is not ‘being ridden’ by the mind, considering that one is first of all clear, stable, grounded here – absolutely here – and aware of every word, experience, movement, decision that we make, assessing at all times ‘what is the starting point for doing/saying this? Where is this want/need/desire coming from?’ ‘what is the starting point of saying/doing/acting in this way toward this person/that situation?’ ‘Is this decision or consideration something that is beneficial for myself and others?’ ‘Am I actually considering living principles here and preventing consequences?’ ‘How can I best learn from this mistake and redirect it toward a solution?’– This is then when we stop seeing the decision to ‘live a word’ as some kind of magnificent plan in separation of ourselves, revealing that actually first of all focus on living it ourselves in every moment of the simplicity that implies breathing, assessing one’s very next move and so see one’s entire day as a blank canvass where we always can decide when, how and why we paint the next stroke – in the end, we will have to live with ourselves as our creation, so why not take the wheel instead of sitting in the backseat to ensure we can be entirely sure that what we live and create is entirely our set of decisions/our mistakes/our challenges/our learned processes, ensuring that we truly gave our 100% to our process of self-creation.

I challenge myself here the same way that I was once challenged by one great man that left the Earth one year and some days ago. In that moment I knew: we have to all pitch in, this is it! To live leadership, to learn how to trust my decisions, my principles, testing what works, to not allow any belief or experience to hinder my experience and if so, assessing, aligning, correcting, debugging and taking the next breath to keep moving on. Life is not difficult, life is not a struggle: we are the ones that have ‘made’ it this way, so it is in our hands to make it a truly enjoyable, learning, productive and challenging experience for ourselves as human beings throughout our lifetime.

Fear, Autism, and An Innate Brain System

Have you ever been awake at night unable to sleep because of the sound of a dripping faucet? Or felt enraged due to someone sitting near you was chewing gum?Are you someone who would like to wear a turtle neck sweater during the cold weather but cannot because it feels as though the touch of the fabric on your neck and throat is strangling? Do you react badly by the sudden and unexpected touch of someone, even if its someone you know and love? If you are familiar with any of these experiences you then have a good idea of what sensory defensiveness or sensory overload is all about.

However, what distinguishes you from those who fit the full diagnostic category of sensory defensiveness is that there are multiple stimuli that the sensory defensive person finds intolerable. As a result, daily life is deeply affected because it is difficult or impossible to work, have a relationship or engage in social interaction with other people. The reason for these limitations is that there are so many stimulating factors in the environment that cause real irritation that the individual is distracted and therefore, incapacitated. Many of these people withdraw into social isolation and this isolation as well as the sensitivity to stimuli, are depressing.

In sensory defensiveness, multiple things are experienced as alarming, and are negatively reacted to. It is important to stress that these over stimulating items are minor and do not bother or annoy the average person. For those who with sensory overload, many or all of these things are intolerable. Commonly, there can be a startle response to irritating stimuli. Another common response is extreme anger that other people find disconcerting if not totally unacceptable.

This terrible experience of intolerance can affect everything from the taste and texture of certain foods to many types of sounds, lights and clothing fabrics and even temperature.

People with this disorder have a lot of variability with regard to what things will be overwhelming and to what degree someone is overwhelmed. It is possible to have a sensory defensiveness to a degree that is mild, moderate or severe.

It is not completely clear what causes this disorder. There is evidence that such factors as Premature Birth, Alcoholism, Drug Addiction, Autism, PTSD, ADHD and Brain Injury due to head trauma, can contribute to the start of hypersensitivity to stimuli.

Conditioning is sometimes used to help people with this condition. This means that they are exposed to very calming stimuli to help counteract the negativer response to things that are irritating. Ultimately the person must learn to use these calming strategies by themselves.

Recent research shows that the part of the brain called the Thalamus might be involved in this hypersensitivity. The Thalamus, located in the middle of the brain, is a kind of relay station for all the sensory information that is relayed via the eyes, ears and other sensory organs. If the thalamus is damaged, it may disrupt the brain’s ability to sort out and integrate all the sensory information coming into the brain. The use of fMRI technology and other types of brain scopes, are helping medical science understand what goes wrong in the brains of these people. It is hoped that this will lead to new and more effective techniques for the treatment of this disorder.

It is important to keep in mind that people with this condition are not deliberately behaving badly when they over react to something. This is not something they are choosing to do and would happily change it if they could. If you know someone who may be experiencing sensory overload, including a child, it is important that they be seen by a physician  so that the correct diagnosis can be made and treatment begun. Relaxation is an important piece to healing

FEAR neurocircuitry in the brain generates emotions that are “characterized by generalized apprehensive tension, with a tendency toward various autonomic symptoms such as tachycardia (rapid heartbeat often with palpitations), sweating, gastrointestinal symptoms, and increased muscle tension,” writes Jaak Panksepp in Affective Neuroscience: The Foundations of Human and Animal Emotions (1998).

The electrocardiogram (ECG) image above right (links to source) is from the Merck Manual Online Medical Library’s entry for “Ventricular Tachycardia.” The top strip’s series of repeating wide uncoordinated spikes indicates a rapid heartbeat. Fear can generate this kind of heart rhythm. A normal ECG strip, with very coordinated spikes, is shown at the bottom for comparison.

The brain’s FEAR neuro circuitry:

Like other emotive circuits we discuss in Part 2 of, the neurocircuitry for fear is genetically encoded in the mammalian brain. Panksepp writes: “The emotional experience of fear appears to arise from a conjunction of neural processes that prompt animals to hide (freeze) if danger is distant or inescapable, or to flee when danger is close but can be avoided.”

In the laboratory, intense electrode stimulation of FEAR neurocircuitry prompts an animal to try to flee. Panksepp explains that such stimulation “leads animals to run away as if they are extremely scared.” He writes: “If given the opportunity, animals will avoid environments where they have received such stimulation in the past, and if no avenue of escape is provided, they will freeze as if in the presence of a predator.”

The concept of genetically determined, innate neurocircuitry for FEAR can be demonstrated with a loss-of-function experiment using knockout mice. Such mice are engineered to lack the activity of one or more genes. Although it has since been removed from the internet, Richard Twyman created the following useful definition of knockout mice in a website about the human genome.

Knockout mice contain the same, artificially introduced mutation in every cell, abolishing the activity of a preselected gene. The resulting mutant phenotype (appearance, biochemical characteristics, behaviour etc.) may provide some indication of the gene’s normal role in the mouse, and by extrapolation, in human beings. Knockout mouse models are widely used to study human diseases caused by the loss of gene function.

Researchers Chong Chen et. al knocked out just one copy of a particular gene and created a knock-out mouse with unusual characteristics related to fear. In Animals in Translation: Using the Mysteries of Autism to Decode Animal Behavior (2005), Temple Grandin and Catherine Johnson recount how researchers “discovered that they hadn’t just knocked out some aspect of learning; they’d also knocked out fear. A normal mouse, with a normal amount of fear, does not fight to the death. He fights until he’s beaten, or sees he’s going to lose, and then he yields. Fear keeps him alive. The knockout mice were almost fearless, and they fought to the death.” Grandin and Johnson write: “The researchers would come to the lab first thing in the morning and find dead mice in the cages. Their backs were broken and there was blood everywhere.”

In normal animals, Panksepp notes in Affective Neuroscience that with “very weak stimulation, animals exhibit … a freezing response, common when animals are placed in circumstances where they have previously been hurt or frightened. Humans stimulated in these same brain areas report being engulfed by intense anxiety.” Panksepp provides examples of such human reactions. One patient reports: “Somebody is now chasing me, I am trying to escape from him.” Another had “an abrupt feeling of uncertainty just like entering into a long, dark tunnel.” Another sensed being near the sea with “surf coming from all directions.”

Fear progresses from the amygdala to the hypothalamus to the periaqueductal gray area of the midbrain to lower regions of the spinal cord where an autonomic response is generated. In terms of general trajectory, FEAR circuitry runs parallel to and most certainly interacts with RAGE neurocircuitry, contributing to, as Panksepp puts it “the balance between fight and flight reactions.” It is in lower, more primal, regions of the brain, specifically the periaqueductal gray (PAG) that the FEAR neurocircuitry is most easily aroused. Panksepp explains that fear is aroused with electrical stimulation of “lateral and central zones of the amygdala, the anterior and medial hypothalamus, and, most clearly (and at the lowest current levels), within specific PAG areas of the midbrain.”

FEAR neurocircuitry projects even farther “down to specific autonomic and behavioral output components of the lower brain stem and spinal cord,” which Panksepp explains control physiological processes including increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, the startle response, elimination, and perspiration. In the amygdala, FEAR circuitry and RAGE circuitry “are fairly clearly segregated, with FEAR being more lateral and RAGE more medial,” explains Panksepp.

Panksepp points out that benzodiazepines (e.g., diazepam, trade name Valium) couple with receptors along the FEAR circuit that “are closely coupled to gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) function in the brain.” He writes: “Just as glutamate is the brain’s most prolific excitatory transmitter, its metabolic product GABA, via one decarboxylation step, is the most pervasive inhibitory transmitter and is capable of suppressing fear as well as many other emotional and motivational processes.” In other words, benzodiazepines facilitate GABA activity and thereby reduce fear. Later in this narrative, we will talk about another drug, carbamazepine, that also facilitates GABA activity and reduces fear.

Glutamate chemical structure and its metabolic product, gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA).

It is interesting, as Panksepp points out, that “animals and humans do not focus on their bodily injuries when they are scared ….” Fear-induced analgesia emerges in part, “from arousal of pain-inhibition pathways such as serotonin and endogenous opioids, near the PAG… .”

Many animals have innate fears. Panksepp writes: “External stimuli that have consistently threatened the survival of a species during evolutionary history often develop the ability to unconditionally arouse brain fear systems.” For example, laboratory rats that have never before encountered a cat or ferret exhibit “increased freezing and inhibition of other motivated behaviors” when the odor of a cat or ferret is introduced into their environment. Panksepp notes that the fear response is species-specific. For example, rats prefer to enter dark holes but show reduced social activity when exposed to bright lights. Benzodiazepines counter the anxiety rats display when exposed to bright lights.

In the laboratory, fear responses can be learned when neutral stimuli are paired with electric shock. This kind of fear arousal is called a “conditioned response.” In humans for example, when pain or other threatening stimuli occurs in the context of other specific external events, thereafter the external events, although nonthreatening in and of themselves, can trigger arousal in FEAR neurocircuitry. Regarding post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Panksepp concludes that “deep subcortical networks” can “become sensitized and can operate independently of your higher cognitive faculties.”

Panksepp explains that when the central nucleus of the amygdala “is lesioned on both sides of the brain, animals no longer exhibit increased heart rates to stimuli they had learned to fear. It is now becoming clear that the central nucleus is one major brain area where conditional synaptic control of fear is created.” As Panksepp points out, “damage to the amygdala can reduce fear conditioning in humans just as it does in animals… .” In addition to reduced fear, Panksepp reports that “such brain-damaged individuals are no longer able to recognize the facial expressions of emotions.”

The polyvagal theory, autism, and PTSD:

As we discussed above, Panksepp notes that FEAR neurocircuitry projects to “autonomic and behavioral output components of the lower brain stem and spinal cord.” As we discussed in Part 1 of, the vagus nerve is part of the autonomic nervous system and arises from the lower brainstem, specifically the medulla, and innervates the viscera—the internal organs of the body including the lungs, heart, liver, and intestine—with autonomic sensory and motor fibers.

In an interview with Ravi Dykema of Nexus: Colorado’s Healthy-Living Connection, March/April 2006, Stephen W. Porges, Professor and Director of the Brain-Body Center in the College of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago, explains that the vagus nerve—the primary nerve for the parasympathetic nervous system—has two major branches: an ancient unmyelinated branch that we share with reptiles and a more recently evolved myelinated branch unique to mammals that “is linked to the cranial nerves that control facial expression and vocalization.”

Porges’s polyvagal theory proposes an automatic-response hierarchy emphasizing that when mammals detect they are in a safe environment, their bodies automatically activate the more recently developed myelinated branch of the vagus nerve that promotes “calm states, to self-soothe and to engage.” What Porges calls the social engagement system determines the quality of interpersonal exchanges, regulating “the features that we show other people, the facial expression, the intonation of our voice, the head nods, even the hand movements….”

Porges points out that “when we’re stressed or anxious, we use our facial muscles, which include the ears. We eat or drink, we listen to music, and we talk to people to calm down.” He emphasizes: “We forget that listening is actually a ‘dotor’ act and involves tensing muscles in the middle ear. The middle ear muscles are regulated by the facial nerve, a nerve that also regulates eyelid lifting. When you are interested in what someone is saying, you lift your eyelids and simultaneously your middle ear muscles tense. Now you are prepared to hear their voice, even in noisy environments.”

When circumstances change and one detects danger, Porges explains that our automatic defense system employs either “the sympathetic-adrenal system to mobilize for fight and flight behaviors,” or, when circumstances are perceived to be so dire that fight or flight is useless, the ancient unmyelinated vagal system immobilizes us, just like an animal freezes when escape from a predator is impossible.

In a 2010 interview with Lauren Culp of the Global Association for Interpersonal Neurobiology Studies (GAINS), Porges says: “By not moving, the mammal would not be detected by [the] predator and, as a byproduct of this strategy, consciousness might be lost or for humans states of dissociation may occur.” In “The Polyvagal Theory for Treating Trauma,” a National Institute for the Clinical Application of Behavioral medicine (nicabm) teleseminar, Porges explains that “If a life threat triggers a biobehavioral response that puts a human into this state, it may be very difficult to reorganize to become ‘normal ‘ again.”

To put Porges’s polyvagal theory in more academic terms, I consulted a chapter that Porges authored in The Integrative Neurobiology of Affiliation, edited by Carol Sue Carter, I. Iza Lederhendler, and Brian Kirkpatrick (Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 1999). When the more recently evolved myelinated vagal system is active (what Porges identifies as the VVC—ventral vagal complex), we have “the ability to communicate via facial expressions, vocalizations, and gestures.” When this system is inactive, “the sympathetic nervous system is unopposed and easily expressed to support mobilization such as fight or flight behaviors.” In terrifying circumstances, when the ancient unmyelinated vagal system (what Porges identifies as the DVC—dorsal ventral complex) kicks in, “immobilization and potentially life-threatening bradycardia [slowed heart action], apnea, and cardiac arrhythmias occur.” Porges explains that such immobilization is “the vestige from the reptilian vagal control of the heart and lung. In contrast to reptiles, mammals have a great demand for oxygen and are vulnerable to any depletion in oxygen resources. The metabolic demand for mammals is approximately five times greater than that for reptiles of equivalent body weight. Thus, reptilian dependence on this system provides a shutdown of metabolic activity to conserve resources during diving or death feigning.”

In the Nexus interview, Porges reminds us that people suffering from PTSD, autism, panic disorder, or any other hypervigilant state are unconscious of the neurobiological process behind their symptoms, which are, Porges explains, an “adaptation to a situation” that his/her nervous system has “evaluated as dangerous.” He points out that strategies to reason with or negotiate with a patient frequently do not work to improve engagement and interaction with others. Porges says “to make people calmer, we talk to them softly, modulate our voices and tones to trigger listening behaviors, and ensure that the individual is in a quieter environment in which there are no loud background noises.”

Porges notes in the GAINS interview: “At least 60% of individuals with autism have auditory hypersensitivities.” In working and interacting with individuals, he emphasizes the importance of “respecting the physiological state of the other and respecting the sensory world of the other person….” In working with trauma victims, Porges advises therapists to encourage their clients to “celebrate the success of their bodies in navigating and negotiating extraordinary dangerous situations” and respect “how their body and their nervous system put them in a state in which they could survive.”

In dealing with stress, Porges recommends to everyone to remember what it is to be a human. He tells Nexus readers: “Part of being a human is to be dependent upon another human. Not all the time, of course. Similar to most mammals, we come into the world with great dependence on our caregivers, and that need to connect and be connected to others remains throughout our lives.” He emphasizes the need to create safe environments for ourselves in which we can socially engage.

Fear processing, PTSD, and kindling:

A March 2009 report from the Society for Neuroscience, “Post Traumatic Stress Disorder,” aligns with Amy F.T. Arnsten’s ideas about how stress can produce impairments in the prefrontal cortex (see Stress, attention, learning, memory, and ADHD). The Society for Neuroscience reports: “Patients with PTSD have heightened levels of norepinephrine, a chemical involved in arousal and stress. High levels of this chemical strengthen the emotional reactions of the amygdala, a brain region involved in the fear response, while weakening the rational functions of the prefrontal cortex, which normally allows us to suppress troubling memories and thoughts.”

There is interesting evidence of a mechanism within the human brain that helps suppress troubling memories and thoughts in a way that is healing. In Animals in Translation, Grandin and Johnson draw attention to Ruth Lanius et al., “The Nature of Traumatic Memories: A 4-T fMRI Functional Connectivity Analysis.” During the study, brain scans were conducted for eleven people with PTSD as a result of sexual abuse, assault, or car crashes as well as for thirteen people who had suffered the similar experiences without developing PTSD. Those who suffered from PTSD remembered their trauma visually, more like a flashback, while those without PTSD remembered their trauma as a verbal narrative. In a summary of this research, titled “Brain Activation May Explain PTSD Flashbacks,” Joan Arehart-Treichel quotes Bessel van der Kolk, M.D., a professor of psychiatry at Boston University and medical director of the Trauma Center there.

Dr. Lanius has elegantly demonstrated how people’s brain function differs when they are in dissociate states.… We always suspected that when people go into these states, there is a decrease in activation of the left inferior prefrontal cortex—meaning that people are less capable of taking in new information and being curious about the world out there—and that the brain shifts to a more right posterior activation—more to a state of fear and flight.”

If language helps humans suppress fear, it is easier to understand why animals do not possess the same ability to suppress fear as people do. Grandin, who has made a career working with animals, asserts: “I do know that once an animal has become traumatized it’s impossible to un-traumatize him. Animals never unlearn a bad fear.” Grandin and Johnson point out that animals are aware of tiny details in their environments and can become afraid of these tiny details. The authors describe this as “hyper-specific” fear. “It comes from autism research, because autistic people are extremely hyper-specific. You see the trees better than the forest. A lot of times you might not see the forest at all. Just trees, trees, and more trees.” The authors point out that animals will react fearfully to any stimulus that resembles, in terms of sensory perception, an initial fearful experience. They describe a dog’s encounter with a red hot-air balloon which severely frightened the animal. Subsequently, the dog reacted fearfully to any red, circular object, even the read aerial markers that draw attention to power lines.

In Affective Neuroscience, Jaak Panksepp notes that PTSD is “characterized by permanent personality changes, including frequent moods of intense fear and anger.” The Society for Neuroscience reports that PTSD symptoms may “include intrusive memories, emotional numbness, and insomnia.”

In Part 1 of, we discuss kindling (see Kindling and stress—how experience affects the brain). In our discussion of FEAR neurocircuitry here, Panksepp explains in more specific detail the experimental procedure known as kindling in which “animals are induced to exhibit epileptic states by the periodic application of localized electrical stimulation to specific areas of the brain.” Panksepp points out that the “amygdala, an emotion-mediating brain area, is an ideal site for kindling studies, since seizure activity can be induced here most rapidly.” Citing a wide range of research studies, Panksepp succinctly describes the kindling procedure:

The procedure consists simply of applying a burst of brain stimulation through indwelling electrodes for a period of one second, once a day, for a week or two. After the first brief ESB [electrical stimulation to the brain], nothing special happens, unless one observes the EEG, where one will note a momentary seizure immediately after the brain stimulation. This induced epileptic fit gets larger and larger as the days pass, and after a few days, the ESB begins to provoke brief periods of outright convulsive activity. After a week or so, the brief stimulation produces a full-blown motor fit, unambiguous both behaviorally and in the poststimulation EEG. Thereafter, the animal will always have a seizure when it receives this burst of brain stimulation. Gradually even other stimuli become capable of triggering seizures, especially loud sounds and flashing lights.

Giving animals seizure-inducing drugs every several days or even exposing them to very loud auditory stimulation also induces kindling, sometimes provoking fits in certain sensitive strains of animals. The induction of these epileptic states reflects a functional reorganization of the nervous system, since no structural changes have been found to result from kindling procedures.

Panksepp observes that “the emotional personality of these animals seems to change as they become kindled. Cats tend to become temperamental and irritable. In female rats, we have observed a form of ‘nymphomania’.” Panksepp says that normal female rats are sexually receptive “for only a couple of hours every four days, but after kindling many females remain in constant estrus. They are willing to have sex with males at all times. It is as if their hormonal receptivity cycle has been locked in overdrive.”

“The severity of PTSD can be diminished with antiseizure medications, such as carbamazepine,” notes Panksepp. He points out that carbamazepine facilitates the inhibitory activity of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and blocks the effects of previous kindling. In Part 3 of, regarding obsessions and compulsions, we also discuss the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA along with the nucleus accumbens, which is intricately connected with the easily kindled amygdala,

Fear, autism, splitting, and savantry:

As you may know, Temple Grandin is autistic and has made a career working with animals, especially in improving conditions for farm animals raised for food. She writes: “This is what I have in common with animals. Our fear system is ‘turned on’ in a way a normal person’s is not. … If I hadn’t gone on medication I couldn’t have had a life at all. I certainly wouldn’t have been able to have a career.”

In Animals in Translation, Grandin and Johnson write: “It seems likely that animals and autistic people both have hyper-fear systems in large part because their frontal lobes are less powerful compared to the frontal lobes in typical folks. The prefrontal cortex gives humans some freedom of action in life, including some freedom from fear. As a rule, normal people have more power to suppress fear, and to make decisions in the face of fear, than animals or (most) autistic people.”

Regarding the frontal lobes, Grandin and Johnson write: “The frontal lobes fight fear in two ways. First, the frontal lobes are the brakes. The frontal lobes tamp down the [action of the] amygdala …. The amygdala tells the pituitary to pump out stress hormones such as cortisol; the prefrontal cortex tells the pituitary to slow down.” The position of the amygdalae within the temporal lobes can be seen in the MRI to the right (image links to NIH source). Grandin and Johnson point to a core difference between animals and autistic people on the one hand, and normal people on the other. “Animals and autistic people are splitters. They see the differences between things more than the similarities. In practice this means animals don’t generalize very well.”

Regarding savantry, Grandin and Johnson point to the research of Allen Snyder and D. John Mitchell who propose that “all the different autistic savant abilities come from the fact that autistic people don’t process what they see and hear into unified wholes, or concepts, rapidly the way normal people do.” Grandin and Johnson explain that a normal person doesn’t become conscious of what he’s looking at until after his brain has composed the sensory eces into wholes. The authors point out that an autistic savant is conscious of the bits and pieces. They note Snyder’s and Mitchell’s conclusion that “the reason autistic people see the pieces of things is that they have privileged access to lower levels of raw information.” Snyder’s article, “Explaining and Inducing Savant Skills: Privileged Access to Lower Level, Less-Processed Information,” is available on the web.

True Strengths

This weekend I competed in my first event for 2014. An unplanned event, yet prepared for. I’ve been working hard to condition and strengthen my body. From the standpoint of having a healthy constitution alone.  Many of you do know know and wouldn’t even realize I’m fortunate to be living today after a long road of abuses  and in the year  to  bring the last piece of healing needed to order. I underwent a particularly challenging major operation in January of this year.  Anesthesia being a concerning aspect of the procedure along with the  those effects of that left  on my neurological system to address alone was one aspect. The depth of the duration and struggle in the unforeseen complicated  and very difficult recovery that followed was  another . With this it seemed that  competing was not going to be in the immediate future.  A hard notion to grasp since  the years between 2006-2012 had been lost.  This year has really brought me into a place of touching the wounds that needed healing in my life journey. The deeply seeded hurts, injuries, betrayals, persecutions, abandonment and judgement my life has been all came up in a massive wave as the surgery triggered me on so many levels. The deeply seeded hurts, injuries, betrayals, persecutions, abandonment and judgement my life has been all came up in a massive wave as the surgery triggered me on so many levels. As many people know depression and autism come hand in hand and the insult my life had been was needing acknowledgment.

My post is dedicated to those whom have come into my life with such positive consciousness in the reality of my journey. To those of you that stood by imageme in the recovery that this year has been. And to everyone who really knows and sees me in what this healing over the years preceding it has been. Thank you, for those of you whom have seen my will, listened to the petition and recognize the truth at hand of my reality and of what has been needed to heal the experience to save my life in all that has been real and true for me. Thank you for empowering me in a way that invoked self empowerment of the soul within me, and for stepping into my truth with me instead of turning away. As I stepped into the humility of the vulnerable place my reality has been in, it is those of you whom kept me strong and saw the surviving spirit. Allowing me to find a safe place to speak about the life that I have experienced and not be judged by its insults, abuses, neglects and abandons. In this catalytic event I have the set determination, confidence and focus to continue to repair the injuries I have suffered. I have the dedication with an allegiance and conscious support system to regenerate my nerve damage, repair muscle necrosis, improve my coordination and brain/ body comprehensive communication and function. My event was a complete victory because I was a participant and involved successfully in the Sport I love at 100% and through that perseverance I am a better stronger person everyday. I am healing everyday. And look forward to sharing more details about the depths this lifetime has been and intends Love and light Amberwas needing acknowledgment.
